HEAD COACH
         Jay Lasley            

Coach Lasley begins his 11th year of coaching and his 6th year as Head Coach of the baseball program at Camden County High School. During this time he and his staff have worked hard to make many changes to the program both on the field and off. Working to instill hard work, tradition, pride, and excellence in and out of the classroom. The Wildcats have averaged 21 wins a season during Lasley's tenure, 4 state play-off appearances, and 3 Region Championships (2006, 2007, and 2008). Highlighted by the 2007 Final Four appearance (a # 3 finish in the state rankings) and an Elite Eight Finish in 2008. In four seasons 16 players have moved on to college baseball and over 30 have been named to the All-Region Teams. 

Originally from Gallatin, TN. Coach Lasley played baseball at Gallatin HS and American Legion Post 17. On the Post 17 team he was teammates with Coach Bentle and they help lead their team to a 1994 American Legion State Championship. After his high school career he moved on to Volunteer State Community College as a pitcher where he and Coach Seymour were teammates on two nationally ranked teams and advanced to the JUCO World Series in 1995. Coach finished his college playing career at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN and pitched professionally with the independent team, the Tennessee Tomahawks.

In the fall of 1998 he returned to Lipscomb University and began his coaching career as a pitching coach and junior college recruiting coordinator. During his three years at Lipscomb he had multiple All Region Players and his 2000 staff was ranked 17th in the nation in ERA along with the team finishing 16th nationally. In the fall of 2001 he headed to Rend Lake College in Ina, IL to work as the pitching and catchers coach. Under Lasley's direction and development two of his players were drafted by professional teams; his starting catcher by the Minnesota Twins and one of his pitchers by the Toronto Blue Jays.

2002 Lasley made the move to Camden County and High School Baseball working his first year in the program as the Varsity Pitching Coach and then taking the Head Coach position in the Fall of 2003.  Since taking over at CCHS he has overseen improvements on the field and off. Additions to the facilities include the addition of the Bill Tellaga Clubhouse, a new scoreboard, installation of a public address system and irrigation to the field, addition of covered cages down the left field line, renovation to the playing surface making it one of the nicest in South Georgia. In 2005 they were the winner of the Dugout Club Field of the Year.

Lasley has been named the Region Coach of the Year three times during his tenure at Camden, 2006, 2007, and 2008. Coach Lasley has a Bachelor's of Science and a Master's Degree in Supervision and Administration from Lipscomb University. He is a member of the Georgia Dugout Club, the American Baseball Coaches Association, and the North Florida Third base Coaches Association. Currently he works as an associate scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Coach Lasley and his wife Amy have one child, a daughter, Ava Hayden.

Varsity Assistant Coach & Pitching Coach
Todd Bentle

Coach Bentle is beginning his 10th year of coaching and his 7th at Camden. He grew up in Westmoreland, TN where he played baseball and was also a stand out basketball player. He moved on and played 2 years at Motlow State Community College from 1994-1996 and played under Don Rhoton. He began his coaching career at Motlow where he served from 1996-2002 and was in charge of pitchers and recruiting. Todd earned his undergraduate degree in Health and PE from Middle Tennessee State University and also his Master's Degree. While he was there, the Bucks went to the Junior College World Series and finished runner up in 2000. In 2003, Coach Bentle moved to Camden County and took over as the Freshman Coach. He has also coached the JV Team during the 2005 season. In 2006, he took over as the Pitching Coach with the Varsity team. Since taking over pitching duties the Wildcat Varsity Pitchers have had an average team ERA of 1.80, 160 strikeouts while averaging 42 walks a season.

Todd is married to Jennie Bentle. The couple has two children Hannah Grace and Hunter Nolan. He teaches PE at the Matilda Harris Elementary.

Chuck Seymour

Coach Seymour is entering his 10th year of coaching and 7th at Camden. Originally from McKenzie, TN where he played baseball and football. Coach Seymour played college baseball at Volunteer State Community College from 1994-1997. As a member of the 1995 team he played in the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. Coach Seymour transferred to the University of TN-Martin in the Ohio Valley Conference in the fall of 1997; he played first base at both schools. Chuck received his undergraduate degree in Health and Human Performance from UT-Martin and his Master's Degree from Troy University. Coach Seymour has coached at Jackson Central-Merry and Cookeville High School, both in Tennessee prior to moving to Camden in 2002.

Chuck is married to Jamie Seymour; they have one child William, born Spring 2007.  He teaches Physical Education at Mamie Lou Gross Elementary School

Jason Smith

Coach Smith is beginning his 8th year of coaching and his 3rd here at Camden County. He was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida where he graduated from Terry Parker High School where he studied the coaching philosophies of Howard May. Coach Smith then spent the next 8 years in Orlando, Florida where he attended the University of Central Florida. He graduated from UCF in 2002 with an undergraduate degree in Physical Education. During his last year of college he began his coaching career at Timber Creek High School where he helped lead the brand new school to a 26-8 record and their first State playoff appearance. Coach Smith then moved on to Colonial High School where he spent 4 years as the Assistant Varsity coach. Overall at Colonial, Coach Smith's teams had a combined record of 84-32 including 1 district title and two Florida State Playoff appearances.  Along with his High School coaching experience Coach Smith has also coached the Central Florida Knights 18 and under scout team, and also spent two summers as a scout for the USA junior Olympic 16 and under team.  Both of those teams went on to win the gold medal in the PAN AM games in Mexico and Puerto Rico. Coach Smith currently serves as the Head Junior Varsity baseball coach for the Wildcats.

Jason is married to Leslee Smith has twin daughters Kimberlin Grace and Kierstin Faith. He teaches Science and Social Studies at St. Mary's Middle School

Raynor Nelson

Coach Nelson is beginning his 1st year of coaching at Camden County.  Raised in Brunswick, GA he attended Brunswick High School where he played Baseball.  Raynor helped lead his team to three playoff appearances in 2001, 2002, and 2003.  After graduation, Coach Nelson accepted a baseball scholarship to Georgia Perimeter College where he played for two years.  He then transferred to Georgia Southern University to finish his degree.  He graduated from Georgia Southern with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.

Raynor is married to Lauren Nelson, married Summer 2007.  He teaches Math at the Ninth Grade Center.

Matt Kelley

Coach Kelley begins his 3rd year of coaching at Camden County. Raised in Albany, GA he attended Deerfield Windsor High School where he played Baseball, Basketball and Soccer. Matt helped lead the Knights to two State GISA baseball titles in 1997 and 1998. After graduation Coach Kelley continued his baseball career at Darton College and Huntingdon College before transferring to GSU to finish his degree. He graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics education.

Matt is engaged to Allison Sellers, who he met while at Georgia Southern, and teaches Math at the Ninth grade Center

Eric Bounds

Coach Bounds is in his first year of coaching at Camden County. Originally from Staples, Minnesota he attended Staples-Motley High School where he played baseball. Eric continued his baseball career at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for 1 year, and then transferred to the University of Minnesota- Crookston to finish up his baseball career as an outfielder/pitcher. Eric graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Golf Facilities and Turf Systems Management.

Eric is married to Emily Bounds and works for Camden County Schools as the Turf and Landscape Manager.
